The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced a new set of regulations for its WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023, with the aim of making the series more competitive and appealing to manufacturers and fans alike. The new regulations, which will come into effect in 2025, will see the introduction of a new class of cars, known as LMDh (Le Mans Daytona h).
LMDh cars will be based on production cars and will be powered by hybrid engines. They will be eligible to compete in both the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will create a more unified global sports car racing landscape. The introduction of LMDh cars is expected to attract new manufacturers to the IMSA series, as well as increase the level of competition.
