Every year, countless individuals embark on a pilgrimage to Rome, the Eternal City and the heart of the Catholic Church. In 2025, this pilgrimage takes on special significance as the Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee Year. During this special year, pilgrims can receive a plenary indulgence, the remission of all temporal punishment due to sin, by fulfilling certain requirements, including visiting the four major basilicas in Rome: St. Peter’s Basilica, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Basilica of St. Mary Major, and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
In addition to the spiritual benefits, a pilgrimage to Rome is also a cultural and historical experience. Pilgrims can visit the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire, such as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, and explore the masterpieces of Renaissance and Baroque art in the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
